I am a huge fan of nature and being outdoors. I think its just generally good for people to get outside. For kids, I feel like it is crucial. Being outdoors is a great way to keep kids entertained. It helps them burn pent up energy, and can just be a lot of fun. I came up with an activity that any parent can do with their child that gets them outside, exploring nature, and learning too. At the end of this post you will even find a free printable. This is my kids’ nature hike learning activity.
What You’ll Need
This can be done pretty much anywhere outdoors. It will probably work best in a park or wooded area. If you don’t have these nearby, you can probably still do this in your yard or around your neighborhood.

What is the Kids’ Nature Hike Learning Activity
The activity is a scavenger hunt for different things you can find outdoors. The list includes wild life, plants, and rocks.
Not only can your child have a blast looking for the different items on the list, but they can count how many they find, and identify the different colors in nature.
This activity is a lot of fun for preschoolers, but could also be fun for older children as well. I personally cant wait for the weather to break here in the Midwest so we can get outside and start exploring!
The items on the list include leaves, rocks, bugs, flowers, birds, squirrels, and butterflies. These things are pretty common in the many areas of the United States. You can also add your own!
